  • Q: What is the Personal Security Image?Your personal Security Image is an image that you choose when you create your new User ID and Password designed to prevent phishing, a type of computer hacking. You should see your Personal Security Image every time you start the sign on process to Payslip by entering your User ID. When you see your Personal Security Image you know you are at the BASF Payslip site, and not an imposter site.

Remember: You should only enter sensitive information, such as your password, if you first see your Personal Security Image.
  • Q. What should I do if the wrong Personal Security Image is showing? If you do not recognize your Personal Security Image then DO NOT enter your Password. Please call us BASF Helpdesk for further assistance.
  • Q: What should I do if I forgot my password?Complete first step by typing in your user ID. A "Forgot password?" link will be displayed on the next page. Click this link and a temporary password will be emailed to your BASF email address.
  • Q: What should I do if I forgot my user ID?Use your SSN to login. Then change your User ID under the User Profile link.
  • Q: How to choose password?Your password must consist of more than 7 characters AND must contain at least three of the following - Uppercase, Lowercase, Digit, Special Charactere.g. John1234. A password strength indicator beneath the field you type in will show you how strong your password is; your Novell password is typically a strong password so you may wish to use that here as well. Note: If you use your Novell password it will not automatically update if you change it on the main network.
  • Q: Is Payslip completely secure?Yes. Payslip is a secure extranet site that has been developed and fully tested by BASFs Information Services group. Payslip employs several security features including:

    • A Personal Security Image to prevent phishing

    • Independent security certificate (the small "padlock" icon that appears near the navigation bar)

    • Complete encryption of data, meaning that what you enter (user ID, SSN, password) is encrypted on its way from your computer directly to the system of reference (SAP HR). You will see this in the form of small dots that appear as you type in your information.

    • Clearing of memory data upon form submission, which prevents backing to cached pages after logging out

    • System time out feature (after 30 min) to prevent misuse from an unattended computer

    • Forgotten password can only be received through BASF email.

Extra Layer of Security: When you enter your SSN (first time signing on or for user ID reset), the data is not stored anywhere for anyone to see, including IT. Your SSN is only stored in the BASF SAP HR system "the system of record" as part of your personal and confidential employee record.
